Course content

The Facilitator Certification Course offers a comprehensive, hands-on learning experience designed to equip you with the knowledge and skills to:

In today’s rapidly changing world, the ability to get the best out of teams is no longer a ‘nice to have’, but a strategic necessity. Recent articles in Harvard Business Review make it clear: facilitation is emerging as one of the most crucial leadership skills for organizations that want to innovate, adapt, and realize their full potential.

A striking article, “Every Team Needs a Super-Facilitator” (HBR, Sept-Oct 2025), emphasizes that the most successful teams are not only those with the brightest minds, but also those with leaders who can integrate diverse expertise, promote equal participation, and build deep trust. These “super-facilitators” are the catalysts that transform groups of talented individuals into high-performing, innovative teams.

The research is compelling: teams with strong facilitation consistently outperform others, achieve exceptional results, and drive groundbreaking innovation.

Understanding the CPS 6.1 framework and knowing how to navigate.

In today’s dynamic and often unpredictable world, the ability of organizations to continuously innovate is no longer an optional luxury, but the most critical driver of sustainable competitiveness and long-term performance.

However, strategically building this capacity for innovation—the ability to continuously renew and improve—requires a fundamental shift, far beyond occasional creative bursts or annual idea contests. It requires a deeply rooted culture ofcuriosity, a safe environment for experimentation, and an unwavering commitment to continuous improvement at every level of the organization.

The goal is not only to allow bold ideas to emerge, but also to allow them to flourish, scale up, and transform into impactful changes, thereby truly embedding innovation in the organization’s DNA. Only in this way can an organization secure long-term growth, resilience, and a future-proof position.

Facilitating each phase of the CPS 6.1 process.

The program trains participants in facilitating all four main components and eight phases of CPS 6.1: Understanding the Challenge, Generating Ideas, Preparing for Action (Developing Solutions), and Planning Your Approach (Assessing Tasks, Designing Processes).

Facilitators learn how to guide groups in generating and focusing activities in each phase—encouraging broad idea generation and then directing energy toward selecting and developing the most promising solutions. They practice with specific CPS tools and learn how to apply guidelines for both creative and critical thinking.

Leveraging cognitive diversity and problem-solving styles

A distinctive feature of the course is the integration of the VIEW model, which helps facilitators recognize and utilize the various problem-solving styles within their teams.

Participants learn to assess and appreciate differences in orientation to change, data processing methods, and decision-making styles. These three core dimensions of the VIEW model closely align with the different phases of CPS 6.1™.

This awareness enables facilitators to tailor their approach to maximize participation, creativity, and collective intelligence. By understanding and productively managing differences in cognitive diversity, facilitators can optimize team learning and performance, as supported by research on the correlation between diversity and collective intelligence in teams.

Embedding best facilitation practices and continuous improvement.

Finally, the course emphasizes the role of the facilitator as a process guide, champion of psychological safety, and agent for organizational change. These three roles are essential for the effective application of CPS 6.1.

Participants learn best practices for structuring sessions, managing group dynamics, and promoting an inclusive environment in which all voices are heard. They are also trained in reflective practice, using feedback and assessment tools to continuously improve their facilitation skills and the results of CPS sessions.

This includes learning how to embed creative routines and continuously learning and understanding how to support adaptability within organizations. In this way, the benefits of CPS 6.1 extend beyond individual sessions and further stimulate sustainable innovation and change.

How did previous participants experience the training?

“A very enlightening training that takes you to the origins of creativity techniques and guides you in the effective use of CPS.”

Thierry Declerck, Project Lead Advanced Engineering

“Positive, I found it to be one of the most fascinating and practical training courses I have taken in recent years.”

Ellen Vandenschrick, Innovation Manager

“Insightful. Practical learning. Increasing confidence to actually use the tools. Sparking enthusiasm to get teams more involved.”

Alan Stockman, Project Manager

“The training course offered a good balance between theory and practice. We understood the role and importance of facilitation. We looked at what is at stake in a team when we are confronted with change, how we deal with information, and our preferences when making decisions. By understanding how all this plays out within a team, we bring out the best in everyone to move forward with the solutions we have found. We don’t have to endure these complex situations. We can turn them into opportunities.

Meredith Stevens, Coach in strategic reflection and innovation.
